It would be very hard to think I am over there, and can I go meet me, and is that me better than this me? Can I learn from the other me? Has the other me made the same mistakes I’ve made? Or can I sit down and have a conversation with me? Wouldn’t that be an interesting thing?
The truth is that we do that all day long, everyday. People don’t admit and they don’t think about it too much, but they do. Everyday they’re talking in their own head, what’s he doing? Why’d he do that? What did she think? Did I say the right thing?

There are two goddesses in your heart,” he told them. “The Goddess of Wisdom and the Goddess of Wealth. Everyone thinks they need to get wealth first, and wisdom will come. So they concern themselves with chasing money. But they have it backwards. You have to give your heart to the Goddess of Wisdom, give her all your love and attention, and the Goddess of Wealth will become jealous, and follow you.” Ask nothing from your running, in other words, and you’ll get more than you ever imagined.

I was able to get out what was pulling me down in my last post by running. Had to go real far though. It feels good to shake that shit off.
OH HAPPY DAYS!
Today has been one of the best days in recent months! You should automatically know this because of my exclamation point. I never use those. I’m rarely this excited.
I found an open position within my company on our website during my lunch break and asked my boss if he would write a recommendation for me. Awhile later he forwards the email he sent, and it is by far one of the best recommendations anyone could have asked for, it blew me away. My fingers are crossed for this job: the position was posted 14 days ago.
He definitely possesses the qualities necessary for this role. This full-time opportunity overlaps almost identically to what he’s currently responsible for. I feel strongly that a transition into that role would be nearly seamless.
Back in July, I opened up a temporary Office Manager position (which is pretty much identical to your Assistant Manager position). I had over 300 applicants and I chose Brian to fill the role. Brian accepted the role because, even though he was the lead at a valet lot (and still is), he wanted to expand upon his managerial experience. I was happy to give him the position after seeing his eagerness to grow within AmeriPark and his level of competency and professionalism. I’d hate to lose him here; however, I’d love to see him grow within AmeriPark, as I see a lot of potential in him.
HARD WORK PAYS OFF.
Also, I played extraordinarily well tonight at our work team’s softball game. I went 3 for 4 and made an amazing catch running out from first place into foul territory to make the play. High fives all around.
Leaps now, not steps.
Two important milestones in two days. Well, one big one, the other a personal victory. I decided I’m going to put in my two weeks for my valet job December 26th, 2011. Just writing that sentence, it’s like a shit weight being lifted off my shoulders. I was hired November 25th, 2006, Black Friday. I have a lot of stories and have met a bunch of odd people and I’ll be sure to do an entire post dedicated to stories about being a valet (book idea?).
The other was turning down an advanced copy of Modern Warfare 3 today, retail price. NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING, BIG DEAL. But seriously, first shooter games are. my. shit. I would sit on this couch all day and play that fucking game, but no, I had the will power to pass it up. I’ve been able to keep the total games in this apartment to zero thanks to selling the other two in late summer, and I aim to keep it that way.
Crystal clear
I’ve recently taken up running as a way to stay positive, motivated, look good naked, and above all, clear my thoughts. At first, like all things, it was hard; starting overall, breathing, stamina, sore muscles, etc. But now, now I look forward to it. The release that it gives me can’t be given by any other activity. I’ve found that running without headphones in lets me listen to my breathing and overall surroundings, which is great.
I was able to run 25 miles last month starting from then 10th, and now I’m aiming for 40. I’ve lost ten pounds, and brought my resting pulse down 20 beats per second. I guess the point of this post is a reminder to keep at it, and that I really want to go running right now but I’m stuck at work. Also, I recommend reading Born To Run, it’s the book that planted the seed.
